Vessel workers have announced a strike across the country from Nov 26 placing a 15-point demand including 100 percent allowance for food and drinking water.
The announcement came at a human chain organised by the Sramik Odhikar Sanrakkhan Parisad (Workers’ Rights Protection Council) in Dhaka on Wednesday (Nov 20).
Their other demands include stopping harassment at the shipping ministry’s offices, ending extortion at waterways, and canceling the decision to set up a pipeline to supply fuel oil.
The leaders said no water transport would be operated after Nov 26 mid-night.
Leaders of workers body including its president Omar Fruk were present at the human chain.
