Finance division has given consent to raise the salary of headmasters and assistant teachers of government primary schools. As a result, the salary discrepancy between trained and untrained headmasters and assistant teachers will be removed.
The grade of assistant teachers has been upgraded to 13th grade, confirmed Primary and Mass Education Secretary Md Akram Al Hossain.
The letter from the finance division sent to the ministry of primary and mass education states that all headmasters will get 11th grade (Tk 12,500-30,200) and all assistant teachers will get 13th grade (Tk 11,000-26,590).
Relevant to note, teachers of primary school have been agitating for a long time in demand for upgrading salary scales. On Oct 28, ministry for primary and mass education sent a letter to the finance ministry on Oct 28 to reduce salary discrepancy and on Nov 7, finance division sent a letter of assent.
