Free Dengue medicine, care through hotline: Mayor Khokon

Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokon speaks to media at his office on Monday (Jul 15).Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon has said that if anyone in the DSCC area is affected by Dengue then please call our hotline number: 09611000999; health workers will go to you and provide care and medicine free of cost.

The team will also provide help for cold, fever and other climate-related ailments, the mayor said and added, “But please do not be alarmed!”
The mayor said that 68 medical teams have been formed to treat Dengue patients and these teams will provide free medicines at 476 centres.
If necessary, a dengue patient will be admitted to Mohanagar General Hospital and Shishu Hospital free of cost.
Saying that Dengue has seen a rise in recent times, the mayor added, “There’s no reason to be alarmed because 97 to 99 percent patients have slight fever and recover within 7 to 10 days.”
From 1 July, mosquito repellent is being sprayed in all areas and cleaning work is underway, awareness building leaflets are being distributed and imams at mosques are spreading information to counter panic, commented the mayor.
We hope to give a Dengue free city soon, he assured.
As per information, from January till July, three persons died of Dengue.
The mayor also asked the media not to inflate the number of deaths and refrain from intimidating people.
