Dhaka South City Corporation has been served with a legal notice demanding Tk 5 million in compensation for a dengue patient.
Supreme Court lawyer Tanzim Al Islam served the mayor and chief executive officer of Dhaka South with the notice on behalf of his clients on Thursday (Jul 11).
The notice said that the patient was diagnosed with dengue and admitted to the hospital on Jun 29 and has partially been cured after five days of treatment.
“Since Dhaka City Corporation has completely failed to eradicate Aedes mosquitoes, they must take responsibility for it,” the notice said.
It added that in addition to paying the compensation, they must lead a mosquito killing drive at Khilgaon’s ward no 1 within three days.
The notice warned of legal action and moving the High Court in failure to comply with the demands.
