Case filed over ‘attempted rape’ in cityOne of the two victims of an ‘attempted rape’ has sued the perpetrators with Sher-e-Bangla police station in the capital, police said.
Police rescued one Mahamudul Rahman Roney from an angry mob in College Gate area on Saturday late night, which later appeared that the man along with his driver got beaten for an attempt to rape two girls.
“The case was filed on adduction and attempted rape charges,” said Sher-e-Bangla police OC Ganesh Gopal Biswas.
Disclosing the victims' whereabouts, the OC said, “The victims are now at the victim support centre and will be taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for the medical test.”
Prior to registering the case, police grilled the two victims
“We have talked to the victims about their allegation, and action would be taken if they lodge lawsuit,” Biswas said.
Earlier, Roney along with his driver Farukh picked up the two girls near the Khejur Bagan area near the parliament building on Saturday late night.
One of the girls got out of the car in the College Gate area and began to scream. On information, police rescued Roney while Fraukh managed to escape the scene.
One passerby made a video of the situation and posted on Facbook, which later went viral.
“At first, we did not understand that the mob beat them on an allegation of ‘attempted rape’. We learned the detail after the video went viral,” said the OC.
