Bail for ex-MP Rana in freedom fighter murder case

Former Tangail-3 lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana The High Court has granted six months bail to former Tangail-3 lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana in the murder case of freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed.
The bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mozibur Rahman gave the order on Thursday (Mar 14) after hearing his bail plea.
Deputy Attorney General Dr Md Bashir Ullah moved for the state, while Mansurul Hoque Chowdhury argued for Rana.
In 2013, the police recovered the bullet-ridden body of Awami League leader Faruk Ahmed  in Tangail. His wife later filed a case with Tangail Sadar police.
Rana, the main accused in the case is still in police custody.
“There is nothing stopping him from getting out of jail since there are no cases against him,” said Mansurul Hoque said.
The ruling party leader also stands accused of the murders of two Jubo League leaders Samim and Mamun. He was granted bail in that case on Mar 6.
