Those in power are responsible to battle the inequality in society, said human rights activists and former care taker government advisor Sultana Kamal.
Her remarks came on Saturday (Feb 9) at the National Press Club during a program organised by the Institute of Wellbeing.
“The core responsibility of those who claim to be on the side of the Liberation War is to battle the discrimination in society and weed it out,” she said.
She said that the public buildings should have lifts and other structural facilities to ensure that the special needs people can access them easily.
“All the civic rights that we demand are in favour of the general people but those who have special needs are entitled to it as well."
“We all have limitations and some demands that stem from those limitations. The day we can fulfil those, that’s the day we can call ourselves developed,” she said.
The human rights activists said that Bangladesh will lag behind as long the underprivileged and those lagging behind feel degraded and left out.
