Two suspended teachers of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, Nazneen Ferdous and Zinat Akhtar have been granted bail in a case filed on charge of provoking the suicide of ninth-grader Aritree Adhikari.
Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury passed the order on Monday (Jan 14) considering the age of teachers and on grounds that Hasna Hena, other accused in the case is already in bail.
According to the case documents, the body of Aritree Adhikari was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her room locked from inside on Monday (Dec 3).
The family of the 15-year-old girl claimed she committed suicide after the principal insulted her and the parents of because she had cheated in an exam.
The principal refuted the allegation of insulting the parents and said that they were called only to inform about thatAritree was barred from an exam after she was found to be cheating by using a cell phone.
