Senior BNP leader Mirza Abbas and his wife Afroza Abbas, have been granted anticipatory bail in a case filed by the ACC on charges of acquiring wealth beyond known means of income.
The High Court Bench of Justice Obaidul Hassan and S M Kuddus Zaman granted the couple eight-week bail on Monday (Jan 14)

Graft watchdog ACC lodged the case on Jan 7 on charges of accumulating illegal wealth.
According to case dossiers, ACC found over Tk 200 million worth of wealth in Afroza Abbas’ name and all of it came from her husband’s earning through illegal means. In her tax-return documents, Afroza, who is also the Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal chief, described herself as a handicraft business woman. However, according to her passport, she is a housewife.
