Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) chief Md Asaduzzama Mia has said some parties are making allegations simply to keep the Election Commission (EC) and the administration under pressure.
Terming such allegations as their strategies, the DMP commissioner said, “As an employee of the republic I will not pass comments on the matter.”
His remarks came on Tuesday (Dec 25) after visiting Banani Catholic Church in the capital on the eve of Christmas Day.
Responding to a query Mia said, “It’s upon the Election Commission and the administration to recover illegal arms and maintain law and order and we are doing precisely that.”
“We are on alert to make sure no one can hamper mass people’s security prior to and after the polls,” he added.
The DMP chief, however, agreed that there are legitimate allegations among the fabricated ones and said, “We are taking those seriously and taking immediate actions.”
“Our polls-preparations so far is satisfactory,” he added.
