Senior BNP leader Mirza Abbas and his wife, Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal chief Afroza Abbas, have been granted anticipatory bail in three cases over the Naya Paltan clash and burning of police vehicles.

The High Court bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Zafar Ahmed passed the order on Sunday (Nov 18).

The court also said that its decision will stand until charges are pressed against the couple.

Advocate Zainul Abedin and Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon moved the bail petition on their behalf.

On Nov 14, three cases were filed against a number of BNP leaders over attacking police and set fire to their vehicles in from of the BNP headquarters at the capitals Naya Paltan.
