A court in Dhaka has set Dec 6 to submit the probe report in a sabotage case filed against 14 people including jailed BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari fixed the date on Tuesday (Nov 6) after the investigation officer failed to file the report.
According to the case documents, leaders and activists of the Muktijoddha Parishad gathered in Gulshan area of Dhaka for a demonstration in February 16, 2015.
The demonstrators, led by incumbent Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan, were planning to lay siege to the BNP Chairperson’s office in the same area.
After holding a rally in Gulshan, the Muktijoddha Parishad activists numbering in the thousands began advancing towards Khaleda’s office. However, a bomb was thrown at the demonstrators.
Later, Dhaka Janbahon Union General Secretary Ismail Hossain Bachchu filed a case over the incident.
Some of the other accused of the case are BNP Vice-Chairman Selima Rahman, and senior party leader Khandaker Mahbubur Rahman.
