Five remanded in rape of RMG worker on moving bus

Dhamrai, DhakaA court in Dhaka has given police three days to interrogate five suspects held over the rape of an RMG worker on a moving bus in Dhamrai, at the outskirts of Dhaka city.
Late on Sunday, the victim was whisked away by the suspects on a bus from the Islampur bus stop, where she was waiting to catch a bus for home.
Locals at Dhamrai reported to police, when they heard a woman screaming from a moving bus, which was soon after intervened at the Kachmach area on the Dhaka-Aricha Highway.
The five people arrested are the driver Mokbul Hossain, 38, his assistant Sohel Rana, 20, Abdul Aziz, 24, Babu Mallik, 25 and Balram, 20.
On Tuesday, police produced them in a judicial magistrate’s court and pleaded for seven days in custody.
Magistrate Atiqul Islam, however, granted three days, said court police’s General Registry Office Quaiyum Ahmed.
