Shipping Minister Shajahan KhanI will not resign, said Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan.
“I will not leave my chair on BNP’s demand. People, even students don’t want my resignation, if they want I will”, Shajahan Khan told Bangla Tribune on Thursday.
Asked about the prime minister’s demand, he replied, “If the premier says, I will do so.”
On Sunday (Jul 29), two students were killed in an accident on Airport road by speeding bus which was racing with another one for passengers.
A remark by Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan stoked the anger when he questioned why there was such an uproar over the two Dhaka children but no reaction when 33 people were killed in an Indian bus crash the day before.
There have been widespread social media demands for his resignation.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina too rebuked him on his remark amid growing criticism over the issue.
