Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) troops have been deployed in the cities of Rajshahi, Barishal and Sylhet, which will go to polls on Monday (Jul 30) to elect mayors and councillors.
BGB spokesperson Md Mohsin Reza told Bangla Tribune that the troops of paramilitary force will be deployed until a day after the voting – Tuesday (Jul 31).
A total of 44 platoons—15 each for Rajshahi and Barishal while another 14 for Sylhet — have been deployed, said the BGB public relations officer.
An additional 4 platoons in each of the cities have been kept as reserved forces, added Reza.
