RAB DG Benazir Ahmed. FILE PHOTOThe Ultra-Islamic groups in the country are being kept under 24-hour surveillance, says Rapid Action Battalion Director General Benazir Ahmed.

He disclosed the information during a media brief on Eid-ul-Azha security arrangements at Karwan Bazar in the capital on Friday (Aug 9).

In response to a media query on whether extremist in Bangladesh could become active over the Kahmir issue, the RAB chief said that there were very few Ultra-Islamists in Bangladesh who were being kept under 24-hour surveillance.

Stating that the Kashmir issue was India’s internal matter, he said that it was unlikely that any quarter would try to create chaos over the issue here.

He added that stern measures would be taken against those who would try to create anarchy over an issue that was in no way related to Bangladesh.
