Expressing concerns of rising incidents of sexual abuse, especially against children, Jatiya Party leader Raushom Ershad has demanded provisions for the death penalty for offenders in a bid to curb the heinous crime.

She made the call on Thursday (Jul 11) in parliament during her speech at the closing of the budget session.

“Sexual abuse against children is on the rise and it needs to be checked. Offenders should be brought under stricter punishment like

“The child torture has been increased in the country which needs to be checked. The accused should be brought under tough punishment,” she told the Jatiya Sangsad in her speech on the closing of the budget session.

She urged the government to amend the law to introduce provisions of death sentence for child sex offenders.

The Deputy Leader of the Opposition urged the government to reconsider the gas price hike.
“It is beyond my perceptions … why the gas price has been increased abruptly immediately after the parliament passed the budget for 2019-20? The hike will put extra burden on the low-income group,” she said.
The people want development but not to be charged high prices for utility services like gas, said Raushon.
