PM set to visit China in July

This 2016 file photo shows Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina shaking hands with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Dhaka, Bangladesh.Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to leave Dhaka for Dalian, China on Jul 1 on a five-day official visit to China to attend the annual meeting of World Economic Forum (WEF) and hold bilateral meetings with top Chinese leaders, reports state news agency BSS.

The meeting titled “Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2019”, also known as WEF Summer Davos, will take place in Chinese city of Dalian from Jul 1-3.

During the visit, the prime minister will hold bilateral talks with her Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang and call on Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing; Prime Minister’s Office sources confirmed BSS on Jun 26.

On Jul 2, the prime minister will attend the inaugural ceremony of the WEF Summer Davos at Dalian International Conference Center in the morning.

The theme of the summit is “Leadership 4.0 – Succeeding in a New Era of Globalization”.

Sheikh Hasina will meet Founder and Executive Chairman of World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab and will also join a panel discussion on “Cooperation in the Pacific Rim”.

On Jul 3, the prime minister will leave Dalian for Beijing.

On Jul 4, Sheikh Hasina will hold bilateral talks with her Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang.

On Jul 5, the prime minister will hold a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

More than 1,800 leaders from government, business, civil society, academia and the arts come together in Dalian next week for the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2019.
