Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan KamalHome Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal Wednesday said BNP chief Khaleda Zia is yet to decide on the jail authorities proposal to get treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) or Combined Military Hospital.
“IG Prison a little ago informed me that Khaleda Zia is yet to agree on the proposal. We hope that she will give her consent anytime. Her treatment will start whenever she agrees to the proposal,” he said after attending a programme at the Government Science College in the city.
On June 9, four physicians visited Khaleda, three-time prime minister, at Nazimuddin Road prison and found out that she had suffered a mild stroke on Jun 5
Khaleda's younger brother Shameem Eskander Tuesday sent a plea to the home minister for giving treatment at United Hospital, a private institution located in Gulshan, but it was rejected.
The former prime minister is serving a five-year term since Feb 8, when a Dhaka court convicted her of embezzling foreign donations made to the Zia Orphanage Trust.
