The Election Commission Wednesday has formally declared schedule of Rajshahi, Barishal and Sylhet city corporation polls setting July 30 for the voting.
EC Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed declared the schedule.
Mayor, councilor and reserved seat councilor aspirants will have to collect and submit their nomination papers to Returning or Assistant Returning Officer by June 28.
The scrutiny of nomination paper will be completed by July 2 and the last date for withdrawal is July 9.
The election will be held on July 30 in the three city corporations.
EC secretary Helaluddin said, ten returning officers each for Rajshahi and Barishal, and nine for Sylhet have been appointed.
After the scrutiny, Assistant Divisional Commissioner will act as appeal authority, he said
“We are yet to take any decision about EVM (electronic voting machine) but we have plans to use them. However, we will use EVM in six centres in Gazipur,” the secretary
Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda on May 29 unofficially declared the schedule and said after the gazette notification on June 13, it would become effective.
