File PhotoThe minimum educational qualification for female candidates for teaching jobs in state-run primary schools as teachers has been raised to graduation from Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent.
Till now male candidates having graduation degree and minimum second class or equal CGPA from any recognised university or any equivalent degrees are eligible to apply for becoming assistant teacher of the government primary schools.
The government has issued new guidelines for recruitment in its primary schools on Tuesday (Apr 9) resetting the age limit for candidates between 21 and 30 years.
The age limit was 25 to 35 for head teachers and 18 to 30 for assistant teachers until now.
As many as 60 percent seats in the recruitment tests will be reserved for women, 20 percent for children of teachers and the remaining 60 percent for men in line with the new guidelines.
Also, 20 percent of the teachers recruited through tests must have bachelor's with honours degrees in science stream.
If sufficient candidates from science do not apply, the posts can be filled up from the merit list, it says.
