Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim said that they were on the lookout for the RAJUK chairman and concerned authorities who approved the plan for Banani’s FR Tower.
His remarks came on Friday (Mar 29) while speaking to the media after visiting the scene of carnage at Banani.
“The building plan passed in 1996 mentioned 18 floors, whereas in 2005, it was found that 23 floors were constructed,” he said.
“The building was raised in contravention to the main design plan,” he added.
We shall take measures against buildings which have flouted approved floor specifications, the minister observed.
“The engineer who is linked with the construction of FR Tower will have his/her licence revoked.”
In addition, a case will be lodged against that person; if needed, the building will be demolished, the minister added.
In the recent accident, 25 persons perished with 24 bodies handed over to relatives.
