Awami League inks MoU with China Communist Party

PID/handout photoThe Awami League has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Communist Party of China (CPC) to boost cooperation.
The accord was signed on Thursday (Mar 21) in Dhaka after meeting between Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and CPC Central Committee’s International Department Minister Song Tao, reports BSS.
Following the meeting at the PM’s official residence Ganabhaban, AL’s International Affairs Secretary Shammi Ahmed and CPC’s Song Tao signed the MoU.
Briefing the media after the meeting, special aide to the PM Md Nazrul Islam said during their meeting Hasina and the CPC representative expressed relations and cooperation between the two friendly countries and the two parties will be further strengthen in future, said the state news agency.
It quoted Islam saying that the prime minister sought Chinese support for safe and sustainable repatriation of the Rohingyas from Bangladesh.
“China could play an important role in repatriation of the forcibly displaced Rohingyas,” he quoted Hasina saying.
In response, Song Tao assured of extending cooperation and said China was working and holding discussions with Myanmar to take back the Rohingyas in Bangladesh.
