The Supravat Paribahan bus that killed Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury, a student of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), was running its services in the capital without permits and had at least 27 cases against it.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia disclosed the information at a programme organized at Mohanagar Natya Mancha on Thursday (May 21).
“The bus was only permitted to run on the Dhaka-Bhramanbaria highway,” he said and added that all the respective authorities were involved in these irregularities.
Abrar, a first-year student of the university, was run over by a Supravat bus on Tuesday (Mar 19) morning in front of Jamuna Future Park at capital’s Nodda, triggering a countrywide protests by students.
