The students of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), who poured into the streets demanding safe roads since Tuesday (Mar 20) morning, have opened an information desk to stop spreading wrong information.
The students of the university’s Mass Communication and Journalism Department has set up the desk at the entrance gate of Bashundhara Residential area on Wednesday (Mar 20) after they noticed that quiet a number of wrong and false information were circulating through the mass media and social media.
Farbin, a student from the BUP’s Journalism Department, said, “We have noticed that several television and print media have telecast and published news with incomplete and wrong informations.”
Journalists and the protesters will be helped from the information desk and any one can know the facts over the road safety movements, she added.

The road safety movement was sparked once more after a first-year student BUP Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury was run over by a Supravat bus on Tuesday (Mar 19).

Last year, two students being run over by a bus gave rise to countrywide protests with students blocking the roads and boycotting classes.
