Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has been successfully operated on, said his information officer Md Abu Naser.
The minister underwent by-pass surgery at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth on Wednesday (Mar 20).
“He is still in the operation theatre under observation,” Naser said.
Dr Sivathasan Cumaraswamy, cardiothoracic surgeon at the hospital and senior teammate of the medical board formed for Quader’s treatment, operated on him.
Quader, who serves as the ruling party’s general secretary was diagnosed with coronary artery blockages after he fell ill and was taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Sunday (Mar 3) morning.
He was flown to Singapore by an air ambulance on Mar 4 where he has been receiving treatment.
