DMP plans stern security for Feb 21

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has planned to beef up security in and around the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital for peaceful observance of Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day on Feb 21.

DMP in a coordination meeting has decided to take some measures for peaceful and smooth celebration of the day with its commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia presiding, reports BSS.

Representatives from Cultural Ministry, Health Ministry, Dhaka University, Dhaka South City Corporation, DMP, Dhaka WASA, Fire Service and Civil Defence and different intelligence agencies were present at the meeting.

The meeting has decided to deploy law enforcers in large numbers alongside with setting up necessary numbers of closed circuit camera televisions (CCTVs), archways and monitoring towers for peaceful observance of the Omar Ekushey.

Bomb disposal units and dog squads will conduct a sweeping in and around of the Dhaka University campus to make the security foolproof whereas special security measures will be taken for envoys and citizens of foreign countries.

None will be allowed to enter Shaheed Minar without search and necessary numbers of women police will be in duty at each of the gates for conducting search of women.

The meeting has decided to install 12 mobile toilets while WASA will arrange for pure drinking water at 10 places in and around Dhaka University campus, adds the report.
