“The decision has been taken after consultation with the religious affairs minister, home minister and senior leaders of Tablig Jamaat,” BSS quoted State Minister for Youth and Sports Jahid Ahsan Rasel as saying.

The time has been extended considering that the Islamic scholars gathered from home and abroad can deliver their sermons properly, he said.

Now the Ijtema will end through Akheri Munajat at 10am on Tuesday, Gazipur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir said.

The Ijtema is being held in a two phases which started on Feb 15.
