REUTERSDhaka has called for an international independent investigation and legal action against the Israeli authorities for crimes and atrocities perpetrated on the Palestinian people at OIC special meet in Istanbul.
The call came on Friday at the OIC Extraordinary Summit in Istanbul.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali is leading the Bangladesh delegation at the meeting convened as crisis has mounted in Palestine after the opening of relocated US embassy in Jerusalem.
The foreign ministry said in a media release on Saturday that Ali made it clear that Bangladesh strongly condemns the Israeli atrocities and deplore the US relocation of its embassy.
He reaffirmed Bangladesh’s position of the establishment of a Palestinian state within pre-67 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital under a two-state solution.
The foreign minister emphasised the importance of engaging international community proactively and to reaching out to important state capitals.
He called the OIC nations to stand strong and united to support the rightful cause of the brotherly people of Palestine.
According to the statement, the Summit adopted a final Communique on the “cold-blooded” massacre of the Palestinian civilian protesters by the Israeli forces as well as on the official opening of the US Embassy in Jerusalem in defiance of international law, UNSC, and UNGA Resolutions. The communique reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause in the OIC.
