Over 2 million to sit for SSC exams on Saturday

As many as two million students will take part in the school-leaving public exams this year. (File photo)The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations-2019 will begin on Saturday (Feb 2).

A total of 2,135,333 students will sit for the examinations. Among the examinees 10,70,441 are males and 10,64,892 females.

A total of 434 students from eight overseas centres- Jeddah, Riyadh, Tripoli, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Bahrain, and Saham- will appear in the SSC examinations this year.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni is scheduled to visit Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Govt. Secondary School in the capital’s Ashkona on Saturday morning.

“Stern actions will be taken against those found involved in any irregularities including leaking question papers during the SSC examinations,” Dipu Moni said while addressing a media briefing in the conference room of the Education Ministry on Thursday (Jan 31).

The minister also sought assistance of all to hold the upcoming SSC and equivalent examinations in an atmosphere free from unfair means.

Comparing with 2018 examinations, the number of examinees increased by 103,434 under 10 education boards,
The number of institutions increased by 131, the number of examination centres increased by 85.

The examinees are instructed to reach their exam venues and take their seats 30 minutes before the scheduled time, the minister said.

An extra 20 minutes time will be given for students with disabilities in the SSC and the equivalent examinations while examinees with autism will be given 30 minutes.

All sets of the question papers will be taken to the examination centres from the treasury on the examination date.

Selected officials have been assigned to take the question papers to the examination centres from the treasury.

All concerned will be informed of the question set codes 25 minutes before the examination begins.

No one except the examination centre secretary will be allowed to enter the venues with any mobile phone or electronic devices. The examination centre secretary is allowed to use a mobile phone without camera function.

Theoretical examinations under general education boards will be held from Feb 2 to Feb 26 while the practical examinations will be held from Feb 27 to Mar 5.

For madrasa board, theoretical examinations will be held from Feb 2 to Feb 27 and practical examinations from Feb 28 to Mar 6.

For technical education board, examinations for theoretical papers will be held from Feb 2 to Feb 23 while practical examinations from Feb 24 to Feb 28.
