During the district administrators meet held in July last, 336 proposals were made and after their assessment, the cabinet took decision on 80 issues on 2 December.

The meet was held between July 24 and 26 and decisions were taken on ‘Jomi ache ghor nai’ project, cluster villages, improvement of the lives of Rakhines and establishment of economic zones.

Issues related the industrial sector include: ensuring quality of food products, establishment of Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP), construction of fertilizer warehouses in Khulna and Jessore, boiler inspection office for industrial cities, establishment of coffee and fruit factories in the hill districts, restarting the Pakshi paper mill and others.

The health side includes: appointment of ambulance drivers in all upazilas, approving new structure for the Chapainawabganj hospital and making three year service of doctors at the upazila level mandatory.

Other plans feature establishing 250 bed hospital in Natore, floating hospital for Char people, transforming 25o bed Moulavibazar hospital into medical college hospital.

In foreign affairs, efforts include taking necessary steps to turn Bangladeshi embassies abroad expatriate friendly.

Decisions on fisheries and livestock include: alternative employment for fishermen, support to hatcheries and poultry businesses, changing current net factories with incentives and ensuring moratorium on fish catching in haor areas for a certain period of time.

The labour side decisions include: establishment of labout court in Moulavibazaar, steps to tackle child labour, changing of posts for field level officials, providing mobile and Internet expenses to upazila level officials etc.

Other work include: new circuit house in Patuakhali, safe travel facilities in railways, toilet facilities for women travelers, starting of commuter train between Dhaka and Tangail, rail line expansion in Netrokona etc.
