Joint President of Jago Hindu Parishad Abhijit Banik has said at a press conference that election is more of a terror for minorities instead of being a joyous occasion.
“Post 1975, all elections only compounded misery for the people from minority sections as many had to leave their homes.”
In most cases, people in power, administration and powerful politicians remain silent when minority people face persecution, he alleged.
Saying that in 1971 minority communities accounted for 20 percent he asked why it had now come down to 9.7 percent.
At the press conference, he raised 10 demands to safeguard the rights of the minorities.
