Dr Kamal's supporters attacked in Mirpur. PHOTO:Bangla Tribune/Nashirul IslamGano Forum chief and Oikya Front Convener Dr Kamal Hossain’s motorcade came under attack while leaving the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial at Mirpur.
More than hundred youth, giving the slogan, ‘Joy Bangla’ attacked Kamal’s motorcade on Friday (Dec 14), according to locals.
The cars of Dr Kamal and few other leaders flanking him were damaged during the assault.
Moreover, three journalists were also injured. Daily Ittefak Photojournalist Shafikul Islam came under attack and two camera men from Ekushey TV and Channel i were also injured.

“They beat me indiscriminately and tried to take away my camera. When I asked the police for help, they admonished me for trying to take photos,” said Shafikul.
After Dr Kamal left the memorial premises, his supporters were beaten up as well.

“Nothing big happened. A little pushing and shoving happens when so many people gather at a place,” he told Bangla Tribune.
“Maybe something happened due to political reasons; the police will look into it,” he added.
