The Election Commission (EC) will be neutral in hearing the appeals of candidates who have challenged rejection of their nomination papers, said Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder.

‘No one will be treated unfairly. We will hear each appeal on its merit,” he told the media on Tuesday (Dec 4) at the capital’s EC headquarters.

“The election commission will be neutral in all aspects,” added Talukder.

Terming impartiality as relative, he said, “It’s not up to me to decide which is justice or injustice.”

Speaking on polls-environment, Talukder said, “If both sides complain about the polls time environment, what can we say. We can discuss on the matter but, I’m not ready to say anything on this issue at the moment.”
