Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has said that no one is being arrested without warrant.
His remarks came on Sunday (Dec 2) following an event at the capital’s Bangabandhu International Convention Centre.
Terming BNP’s allegations of mass arrest as its political strategy, Kamal told the media, “We arrested no one without warrant.”
Only the people who have cases with specific charges against them are being arrested, added the home minister.
“As you know, the security agencies are now under the Election Commission (EC). Raids or arrests are now being ordered by the electoral body,” he said before reiterating that no one is being held without cause.
When asked if the authorities have identified people who are spreading rumour, Kamal said, “Everyday, we receive hundreds of reports of rumours being spread on Facebook.”
Urging everyone to stay cautious from rumour traps, the home minister said, “Rumours were always there and it’s even more so with the polls nearing.
