Senior leaders of Oikya Front-led by its chief Dr Kamal Hossain paid tribute to Maulana Bhasani on the 42nd death anniversary of the veteran politician.
On Saturday (Nov 17), Dr Kamal accompanied by Krishak Sramik Janata League President Abdul Kader Siddique and former BNP minister Mahmudul Hasan placed garlands of flowers at Maulana Bhashani’s grave in Tangail.
Right after Dr Kamal paid his respects, an entourage of central BNP leaders came to pay their tributes, following which the party came under much criticism.
“There is no significance in paying respects separately. There was just a little gap with Dr Kamal as he was going to the venue by car while we came separately with local party leaders and activists,” said Shamsul Alam Tofa, President of BNP’s Tangail unit.
Local BNP leaders went to pay respects to the Bhasani, the Majlum Jananeta, flanked by BNP Vice-President Abdullah Al Noman, Shamsuzzaman Dudu and assistant publicity secretary Shamimur Rahman Shamim among others.
