Election Commissioner Kabita Khanam It’s not possible to hold a hundred percent fair polls, said Election Commissioner Kabita Khanam.
“There’s no country in the world where polls are entirely fair. The same goes for Bangladesh,” she told the media on Friday (Nov 16).

She said that the whole country is in the mood for elections but people have to ensure that the atmosphere does not turn hostile at any cost.
To the election officers, the EC said, “You have to work hard and with honesty to fulfill the herculean task of ensuring free and fair polls.”
She added that it is not just the EC’s but everyone’s responsibility to make sure that the election is credible.
On the other hand, EC Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed congratulated the assistant returning officers saying, “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Addressing the assistant returning officers, Ahmed said that the polls will definitely take place on Dec 30 and will be inclusive and a competitive one, given the participation of all the parties.
On the promotional banners that have not yet been taken down, he said that those should be taken down by Nov 18, giving the candidates room to run their campaigns.
