PM’s media call, polls-time govt formation likely on Friday: MuhithThe prime minister may hold a press conference on Friday (Nov 9) and the election-time administration may be announced the same day, says Finance Minister AMA Muhith.
Speaking to the media on Thursday (Nov 8) after a meeting of the cabinet committee on purchase, he made it clear that there will be no new faces in the government.
“The technocrat ministers who have filed resignations will not to be replaced. But their resignations are yet to be accepted.”
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was scheduled to appear before the media on Thursday to discuss the talks held with political parties and coalitions between Nov 1 and 7. However, the PM’s press wing said late on Wednesday that the media call has been postponed.
Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda is expected to announce the schedule of the 11th Parliamentary Election on Thursday in an address to the nation.
Speaking to the media, octogenarian Muhith said it was time for him to retire from politics.
“I will not contest the polls; it’s my decision. However, I will file a nomination, in case the candidate replacing me misses for any reason ... kind of a dummy nomination,” he said.
