By creating additional posts through super-numerary, 235 police officials have been given promotion. Five have been given normal while 230 through extra posts.
A gazette was issued in this regard on Wednesday (Nov 7).
Previously, the police headquarters sent a proposal to the home ministry for the promotion of 495 officers.
The letter sent from the police headquarters to the home ministry said that the police is a significant wing of the administration with close links with the administration cadre. However, there is a discrepancy in the commanding posts of the police compared to other cadres.
After assessment, the ministry of public administration and finance department approved the creation of 230 posts on Oct 31, 2018.
Later, it was raised at the cabinet purchase committee and following approval, was sent to the PM’s office. From there, it has now been sent to the home ministry.
