“The process for the amendment of RPO is not possible before the forthcoming national election and instructions on this matter will be asked at the cabinet meeting tomorrow (Oct 29), he said at the inauguration ceremony of the new Judge's orientation course for Women and Children Repression Suppression Tribunal at the Judicial Administration Institute in the capital on Sunday noon (Oct 28).
Regarding the ongoing transport strike all over the country, he said, “Transport workers are on strike without fully understanding the clauses of the road transport act.”
About Gano Forum president, Dr Kamal Hossain, he said, “He does not abide by the constitution though he was the chairman of the constitution forming committee.”
Clarifying the bail refusal of barrister Mainul, the minister said that the judges of the district where the case was lodged have a right to hear the case.
“Either barrister Mainul has to go to the districts or have the cases transferred to Dhaka.”
In giving the verdict on Mainul’s defamation case, the minister said, “Law has acted independently, there wasn’t any interference from the government.”
On the issue of digital security act, the minister observed, "There is no scope to amend the law as it will not undermine freedom of the media.”
