Finance Minister AMA Muhith

Anarchy in the name of transport strike will not be tolerated and it will be strictly dealt with, Finance Minister AMA Muhith has warned.

His reaction to the ongoing 48-hour transport strike came after Sadharan Bima Corporation’s dividend cheque hand-over ceremony at the Secretariat.

On the upcoming national polls, the senior Awami League leader said, “Election will be held in December and BNP will take part in it. If they don’t they will face existential crisis.”

When asked if the government is worried about the recently formed alliances ahead of the polls, the finance minister said, “There’s nothing to worry about new coalitions.”

Muhith handed over Tk 400 million worth dividends as profits made by the Bima Corporation in 2017.

Speaking about the Bima, he said, “It’s not right to say that the government is not good at business. Sadharon Bima is a great example of that.”

“Today Sadharon Bima Corporation deposited Tk 400 million worth of dividends to the government fund. The present government do not do business but it’s good to remain involved with some ventures,” added Muhith.
