There’s no terror attack threat across the country over the Aug 21 grenade attack verdict slated for Oct 10, says the counterterrorism police chief.
Speaking to media on Saturday, Dhaka metro police Additional Commissioner Monirul Islam said, “Law enforcers will go tough if any attempt is made to unleash violence and anarchy.”
His remarks came after attending an event by the Crime Reporters’ Association of Bangladesh,
Asked whether there is any threat centering the Durga Puja, the largest festival of Hindus in Bangladesh, Islam said only two incidents of violence occurred during religious festivals in Bangladesh in recent time, however, maximum security measures will be taken considering the global situation.
The chief of Counterterrorism and Trans-national Crime unit said that they are considering cybercrime as a major issue during the upcoming general election.
