Jaya Ahsan won the best actor (female) as for the Bengali movie ‘Bisorjon’ at the Zee Cine Awards in Mumbai on Tuesday (Dec 19). Tamil director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari presented the award to Jaya.
In April, the film won the Bangla Film Award at the National Film Awards in India.
Jaya said, “Zee Cine Awards is a prestigious award. I am grateful to the film’s director Kaushik Ganguly & all the team members of the film ‘Bisorjon’. It makes me and my country proud.”
It is relevant to mention that, G-Cine Awards Authority have awarded Kolkata movies besides Hindi films for the last two years.
Jaya plays 'Padma', a Bangladeshi widow, who falls in love with an Indian businessman who came to Bangladesh with the river stream.
She won the National Film Award in Bangladesh for Guerrilla (2011), Chorabali (2012) and Zero Degree (2015).
