REUTERS/FILE PHOTOThe Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere, “Winterfell,” was directed by series vet David Nutter, but it turns out he had a little bit of help. Legendary director and producer George Lucas visited the set of Game of Thrones in Belfast, and while the cast and crew was freaking out, Lucas was taking notes and giving directions, reports DECIDER.

HBO’s behind-the-scenes Game of Thrones featurette, “Game Revealed,” shows us a bunch of Easter Eggs and unveils how the team pulled off those daring CGI shots of Jon Snow riding Rhaegal. The mini-doc also recounts how showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss freaked out when they found out that Star Wars creator George Lucas was visiting the set.

“The first time I could remember telling stories was me as a little kid mashing together these stormtrooper dolls,” Benioff says. “For so many of us, he’s the one who started our obsession with this big, epic storytelling.”

Lucas wasn’t just an idle visitor on set. He observed filming, checked out playback, and even jumped in to give actors Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke notes.

So what scene did Lucas help bring to life?

The one in which Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen complain about Sansa Stark. We’re not saying it was kind of awkward and wooden to watch an aunt and nephew flirt while complaining about Sansa, but it did kind of remind us of another famous Lucas ‘love’ scene, wherein Anakin Skywalker complains of sand. Sorry, Sansa Stark, you are the new sand.

The 17 minute-long video is available on YouTube and may inadvertently tease a lot for the finale. The actors are interviewed on set, and Jaime, Arya, and Sansa all appear in the King’s Landing sunshine, wearing outfits we haven’t seen before. Then again, since this is Game of Thrones, the outfits could be red herrings.
