Comedy actor Tele Samad passes away at 74

Noted comedian and film actor Tele Samad has died on Saturday (Apr 6) while being treated at the Square Hospitals in Dhaka.

The 74-year-old breathed his last around 1.30pm, hospital authorities confirmed Bangla Tribune.

The actor, who hailed from Munshiganj, was admitted to the hospital on Friday after falling gravely ill. He had been suffering from several complicacies for a while.

In December, he had been admitted to the same hospital chest infections and difficulty in food ingestion due to low count of platelet in blood, the family said then.

The popular actor had a bypass surgery in US in 2017. He returned to Bangladesh in September the same year after recovery.  However, he was admitted to the hospital twice in October and November the same year.

He said the family has decided to bury the actor at the family graveyard at Nayagaon village of Munsiganju.
The burial will be performed on Sunday.
Tele Samad is survived by two sons – Sumon and Diganta, and two daughters – Kakali and Bindu. His eldest son lives in the US.

He started his career in the film industry through “Kar Bou” in 1973, but shot to fame for the role he played in “Paye Cholar Path”.

In an acting career of over four decades, Tele Samad worked in more than 600 movies. His last film was “Zero Degree” by Animesh Aich which was released in 2015.

Tele Samad also had a talent for music. He was the music director of the movie "Mona Pagla" and was a playback singer in more than 50 films.
