It’s neither kidney related diseases nor cancer, road accidents is the main cause of deaths in Bangladesh at the moment, says Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
His comments came on Saturday at the inauguration of a new fire station in Cumilla’s Burichang Upazila on Saturday.
Road accidents have become the prime concern of the people, he added.

“Roughly more than 6,000 road accidents occur every year claiming at least 3,000 lives … Most vehicles in Dhaka are unfit as so are the drivers. Moreover, the pedestrians, passengers or drivers — no one follows traffic law,” he said.

On the recent attacks on journalists during the road-safety protests, Khan said, “Law enforcers have been instructed to identify the perpetrators from video footage.”
