Wanted criminal killed in Chattogram ‘shootout’

Police gun barrelA man, who the police say was wanted in 18 cases, has been killed in Chattogram in what has been described as a shootout.
The incident was reported from district’s Anwara upazila in the wee hours on Saturday, said police.
The deceased was identified as Nasir Prakash Mamun, 35.
Anwara police OC Dulal Mahmud said, “Police conducted an anti-terror raid in Upazila’s Dudhkumra area where the terrorist opened fire when police retaliated. Later, a body was recovered from the spot.”
“Two firearms and five bullet shells were seized from the spot,” OC Mahmud said.
Two policemen were injured during the shootout, he added.
According to the police, the deceased was accused in 18 cases including for murder, rape, extortion and possession of illegal firearms.
