A suspected drug peddler was killed in a reported gun battle with police in Shahrasti municipality area in the district early Thursday, said the OC of Shahrasti Police Station Mizanur Rahman.
The identity was not immediately known but, police claimed he was a ‘drug trader’.
“Acting on a tip-off that a large consignment of contraband Yaba tablets will pass, we raided the area.”
After 15 minutes of skirmish with the ‘drug dealers’ police found a bullet-hit body of a man who was declared dead by the doctors later in the local hospital, the police officer added.

Police found 83 tablets of Yaba from the scene.
