The Awami League government led by Sheikh Hainsa is tolerant to the opposition parties and does not want hostile relations with them, says Road Transport Minister Obaidul Quader.
“We want opposition parties to play constructive and responsible role in parliament. We are tolerant to them,” he said on Saturday (Oct 19).
Quader, who is the general secretary of ruling AL, made the remarks while speaking to media after visiting the renovation work of the approach road of the Meghna Bridge at Meghna Ghat in Narayanganj.
The senior AL leader said BNP observes party programmes without any barrier and its leaders speak inside and outside parliament at their will.
“It has been possible only because the Hasina government is in office”, Quader added.
Referring to murder of BUET student Abrar Farhad, The minister said no suspect will be spared.
Quader said, “All accused in the BUET student Abrar killing case have been arrested as per PM Hasina’s directives. None of them have been spared, although they were Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders and activists.
“Those under surveillance will be brought under trial through the ongoing cleanliness drives [in the party],” he added.
Quader said councils of AL’s associate bodies, tenures of which have expired before 7/8 years, will be completed by November next and the committees will be formed with the combination of young and elderly leaders, he said.
