Woman dies of dengue in Rajshahi

A woman has died of mosquito-borne virus dengue at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).
Fifty-five year old Rowshan Ara, who hails from Kushtia, died on Saturday (Sept 14) while undergoing treatment.
Rowshan was diagnosed with dengue on Sept 8, RMCH Deputy Director Dr Saiful Islam Ferdous told Bangla Tribune.
“She was brought to the hospital from a Kushtia hospital on Sept 10,” he said.
She was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Sept 12 after her condition deteriorated, said the senior RMCH official.
Rawshan is the third dengue patient to die while undergoing treatment at the hospital, according to Ferdous.
One Shapla Begum and Abdul Malek died of the mosquito-borne disease on Sept 9 and Sept 12 respectively.

Among the newly affected dengue patients, 156 were hospitalised in Dhaka while 371 in other parts of the country, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.
About 2,996 patients are being treated at hospitals across the country. Of those, 1,285 are in the capital.
Since the beginning of this year, 80,567 people were hospitalised with dengue, most of them in Dhaka, until Saturday morning. Of them, 77,368 made full recovery, according to the government.
Bangladesh has seen the worst dengue outbreak with 60 people dying across Bangladesh from January 1 till September 13, according to the government data. However, the unofficial death toll is reported to be over 152.
